We meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month.
The meetings consist of a Quiz, on aviation, followed by a presentation by each
member on any subject of interest to them. Normally this consists of around 600
words that can either read out from say Wikipedia, or AI, or a précis giving
their own take on the subject. It can be anything from the world of Aviation.
Past subjects have included, Imperial Airways, the 13 reasons why Concord
Crashed, Terminal 5 at Heathrow, Concordski, the crash on the Hudson, the
Sopwith Camel, the Lancaster bomber, why Comet crashed, A comparison of
the Airbus A380, and the A340, the importance of the Rolls Royce Merlin
engine in WW2 etc etc, it can be anything that interests them.
We then do what we call a One Fact Wonder, where we agree on a subject at
the previous meeting, and then all see what we can come up with about the
subject. Recent OFW’s have included Record Breaking Aircraft, Seaplanes, One
off aircraft, and spy and reconnaissance aircraft.
The meetings are light hearted, and informative.
