Status:Active, open to new members
Group leader:
When: Monthly on Wednesdays
2nd Wednesday each month
Venue: Private House

The Maritime group format is very much like the Aviation Group; but we meet
on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

We start with a quiz that covers all aspects of the Maritime world. This is followed by each member giving a
presentation on any subject that interests them. This consists of members
researching the subject, using Wikipedia, AI, or other documents, and then
giving their take on the subject.

Past subjects have included, tramp steamers, the port of Botany Bay,
Transatlantic Liners of the 1930’s, Cunard Line, the Sinking of the Bismark,
WW2 Corvettes, Clan Line, the Royal Docks, Chatham Docks, and K class
submarines. Members are free to choose any subject that interests them.

We then do the One Fact Wonder, where we agree on a subject at the
previous meeting, and then all see what we can come up with on the subject.
Recent OFW’s have included Submarines that failed, Thames Tugs,
Minesweeping, and Harbours.

The meetings are light hearted and informative,
